qBittorrent berusaha setara μTorrent yang open source dan multi-platform. qBittorrent saat ini menawarkan fungsionalitas sebanding dengan klien BitTorrent yang lebih populer seperti Vuze tapi tanpa membutuhkan Java Virtual Machine. qBittorrent memerlukan Python hanya untuk mesin pencari sementara klien lain seperti Deluge dan BitTornado memerlukannya untuk protokol BitTorrent itu sendiri.
